On September 11, the California Energy Commission (CEC) approved 2025 California Energy Code and the voluntary energy efficiency requirements for 2025 California Green Building Standards Code.

The changes are expected to save 30 million therms of natural gas, support building decarbonization, and reduce water use by more than 68 million gallons per year. (click here for more details on the proposed code)

The 2025 Energy Code will become effective January 1, 2026. To prepare, visit Energy Code Ace for tools, training, and resources.
