HERS Quality Insulation Installation (QII) Verification and Inspections
The 2019 California Energy Standards uses QII as a Standard Building feature in all New Residential Construction for Title 24 Energy Code. This requires a HERS Rater to verify the proper installation of the insulation and air barrier at various stages throughout construction starting prior to insulation. The general contractor, insulation contractor and HERS rater will need to coordinate scheduling early in construction.

Code for new low-rise Residential buildings of any size and additions greater than 700 ft². To avoid costly problems at the end of
a project, QII needs to be considered throughout the process starting with the design drawings. This training provides an
overview of QII requirements, discusses how to keep a project on track to meet the requirements, and provides additional
reference resources.
