After graduating from Sonoma State University with a B.A. and working for the Social Security Administration, Sarah returned to the college to study the emerging field of building science. She started her consulting career with H&C Metal products for three years before joining Soldata Energy Consulting, Inc. in 1985.

Sarah works as an energy and green building consultant specializing in evaluation, consulting, and providing documentation compliant with California energy standards for both residential and nonresidential state standards. She also performs on-site inspections required for the verification of green building measures.

She has been managing technical review and plan check services for utility incentive programs since 1993, including PG&E’s New Solar Homes and California Advanced Homes programs and the preceding Energy Star Homes Program.

Sarah is certified by the California Association of Building Energy Consultants (CABEC) as a Certified Energy Analyst (CEA) and Certified Energy Plans Examiner (CEPE) for both the residential and nonresidential California energy standards. She holds the Certified Energy Manager (CEM) qualification from the Association of Energy Engineers, an internationally recognized organization.

Her green building certifications include Certified Green Building Professional and Certified Green Building Rater through Build It Green, as well as a LEED AP.

Sarah has been a member of CABEC since its inception and currently serves as secretary on the board of directors. She is also a member of the committee for the development of the new CEA exams.
